State Of Florida Black History Essay Contest

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Three Florida students will win four-year scholarships in Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott's Black History Month Essay Contest.

The contest is open to all 4th through 12th grade students in Florida.

Three winners will be selected:one elementary school student (grades 4-5), one middle school student (grades 6 - 8), and one high school student (grades 9 - 12).

Contestants must be Florida residents, attend school in Florida and provide aSocial Security Number. Each student may enter only one essay, written in English, no longer than 500 words.

The winners will receive a 4-year florida Prepaid College Plan scholarship provided by Florida Prepaid college Foundation. Winners will receive awards at the Scott's Black History Month celebration in Tallahassee.

Entries can be mailed to Volunteer Florida, Black History Month Committee, 3800 Esplande Way, Suite 180, Tallahassee, FL 32311, or submitted electronically through an online submissioin form.

All entrants must be received no later than 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Emailed, scanned or faxed entries will not be accepted.
