Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect

In the past decade the greenhouse effect has gained much attention with

the media. Because of the pollution in the 1980's and early 90's attention

was brought to the greenhouse effect. In overpopulated areas, the amounts of

methane and carbon dioxide was growing. Some scientists believe the

greenhouse effect is directly related to the earth's warming, others believe

it's a cycle of earth's temperatures.

The greenhouse effect is very important to our climate. The light waves

from the sun penetrate through the atmosphere. The warm air heats up the

land and as it rises it hits the o-zone layer and bounces back into the earth

and continues to heat. In a…show more content…

The earth is heating from the greenhouse effect. Without the o-zone

layer there blocking the heat from leaving the atmosphere, earth would become

very cold and lifeless. If not for the greenhouse effect, the earth would be

33 degrees C colder than it is now. Other proof that the greenhouse effect

does heat is Venus' atmosphere is so thick and in effect its greenhouse

effect is so large that its surface is hot enough to melt lead.

Carbon dioxide, water vapors, and methane are a big contribution in

blocking heat from leaving earth. Some sources of methane can be prevented.

For instance the over-production of cattle, the unnecessary amounts of waste,

and fumes and smog from factories. A lot of carbon dioxide is also

preventative. Forest fires produce much carbon dioxide and stop much

production of oxygen.

Throughout the history of the world there has been many cycles of the

climates. The warming of the earth could, in fact, have nothing to do with

the greenhouse effect and simply be part of the earth's cycle of climates.

In the beginning the earth was hot and pure lava, then it became covered with

glaciers. A huge heat wave came over the land and melted the glaciers.

Since then the temperatures have become rather moderate, the warming that's

happening can simply be part of this cycle

Greenhouse Effect Essay

INTRODUCTION

Greenhouse effect has been a significant issue since the world start to civilize and industrialize. Greenhouse effect occurs due to human activities and many of countries are still finding the best way to solve the problem of greenhouse in this twenty-first century, even though greenhouse effect is a common incident for decreases. Everyone is focus on greenhouse effect because greenhouse effect will gives great damage and harms to the world and mostly affected are wildlife.
Thus, this report is mainly study about the impact of climate change to wildlife by greenhouse effect to the world in one country which is Australia because climate change has become a major issue in Australia since the turn of twenty first century and climate change not only affect the natural system but also the wildlife. Wildlife is impacted the most in Australia.
The objectives and aims of this report is further understanding the impact of climate change by greenhouse effect, so that it could create and raise more awareness of greenhouse effect. In this way it could help to reduce the greenhouse gasses to prevent harmful climate change.

2. How does Greenhouse impact climate change?
Kenneth Hare reviews the scientific evidence on the greenhouse effect and explained that warming on global scale and that raising greenhouse effect is the main cause that impact climate change. Human activity is seen to be the responsible for this warming. The natural greenhouse effect is beneficial to our earth and become possible to making life on earth, but the temperature is very high nowadays that harm human, plant, and animal life. For example, the natural resource that we use of oil and coal to fuel vehicles and produce electricity will adding at least three billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere each year that cause climate change every day in our earth.
According to US (EPA) As greenhouse gas emissions from human activities is slowly increasing, they make the world become more and more warming of the climate, causing the changes in the atmosphere, on land, and in the oceans. These changes will separate into both positive and negative effects on natural system and wildlife. This is because greenhouse gases can stay in the atmosphere at least tens to hundreds of years after being release, their warming effects on the climate will stay over a long time.

2.1 Greenhouse effect impacts climate change to in Australia
(a)Where do greenhouse gases come from to impact Australia?
According to World Wind Fund for Nature (WWF) explained that Australians are the highest greenhouse gas polluter, per person among the Organization for Economic CO-Operation and Development (OECD) in populations.
The main source of greenhouse gas pollution were 72% from energy including 51% on stationary energy, 14% on transport, 7% on fugitive emissions such as oil and gas production, 15.9% from agriculture, 5.7% from...

Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect

586 words - 2 pages Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect The greenhouse effect, in environmental science, is a popular term for the effect that certain variable constituents of the Earth's lower atmosphere have on surface temperatures. It has been known since 1896 that Earth has been warmed by a blanket of gasses (This is called the "greenhouse effect."). The gases--water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), and methane (CH4)--keep ground temperatures at a...

Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect

937 words - 4 pages What is the "greenhouse effect?" It is the behavior of solar radiation when it interacts with gasses in the Earth's atmosphere. The Sun gives off a wide spectrum of energy which we classify according to its wavelength. Among the types of energy given off by the sun are ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared (IR) wavelengths. UV is short wavelength high-energy radiation, visible is mid-wavelength, mid-energy radiation,...

The Greenhouse Effect –The Importance&Effects

1264 words - 5 pages The importance of the greenhouse effect was just conceived in the mid-twentieth century. "For billions of years, cosmic forces shaped Earth, and land and air coevolved at an almost inconceivably slow pace to create a climate in which human beings and other creatures could flourish." (Franscesca Lyman). Now, for the first time, humanity has the power to change the global climate. By releasing the huge amounts of carbon stored in fossil fuels...

Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect

1803 words - 7 pages Global Warming is due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring process that aids in heating the Earth's surface and atmosphere. It results from the fact that certain atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, are able to change the energy balance of the planet by being able to absorb longwave radiation from the Earth's surface. Without the greenhouse effect, life on...
